Artsmark Gold

Caldicotes Primary Academy achieved Arts Mark Gold in Summer 2012. We were incredibly proud of our achievement and hope to continue to inspire our children to grow their arts and leadership talents. Holding Artsmark status demonstrates that our academy values the arts and culture – we aim for success again in 2015!

Artsmark is Arts Council England’s flagship programme to enable schools and other organisations to evaluate, strengthen and celebrate their arts and cultural provision.

Artsmark is delivered by Trinity College London and 10 regional Bridge organisations drive participation. We are proud to have the support of the Department for Education, the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, the Office for Standards in Education (Ofsted) and a number of other partners.

The benefits of Artsmark
Artsmark demonstrates that your arts provision is all inclusive for every child and young person. In particular, Artsmark:
  • provides a comprehensive audit tool, setting benchmarks for evaluating arts provision and enabling you to identity areas for development
  • supports successful and sustainable relationships between education settings and arts and cultural organisations
  • embeds and enriches arts and cultural experiences across your school or setting as a whole
  • allows you to show you are proud of your school or setting’s achievements and are ambitious for the future
  • will help to promote your school or organisation to prospective students, their families and across the wider community
  • is a way of celebrating and recognising your school or setting's success in the arts and culture
  • provides valuable specialist advice about developing and building your arts and cultural provision through the Artsmark network
  • contributes to the cultural aspect of Ofsted’s requirement that a school promotes students’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development
Here are some of the things we have been getting up to...

During the Summer Term Mrs Hill arranged for a professional singer to teach singing with our academy choir. This lead to our choir performing in a concert at Middlesbrough Town Hall with numerous other schools in the area, and also at our academy summer fayre. This provided a unique experience for our children. Some gifted and talented children also had the opportunity to go to Middlesbrough Town Hall on a weekend to watch a professional orchestra rehearse. This was an inspiring experience which will never be forgotten!
