Week 13 in Nursery

posted 5 Dec 2014, 06:47 by Tom Kentfield-Wells   [ updated 5 Dec 2014, 06:47 ]
Christmas has arrived in Caldicotes Primary Academy Nursery this week!!!

We have had lots of fun helping Santa wrap presents in Santa’s Wrapping Station and we have worked together to help decorate our Christmas tree in the home corner.

We read a story called ‘The Snowman and the Snowdog.’ From reading this story we talked about how Sam might be feeling when he realised that the snowman he had built had melted. We decided that to cheer Sam up we would make him another snowman. Look at our super snowmen creations!!!!

In maths we have been looking at numerals, ordering numerals and matching them to Numicon plates.

In phonics Miss Pounder’s group have been listening carefully to initial phonemes in words and they have been developing their oral blending and segmenting skills. This week the children have been focusing on the letters; o, c and k.

Mrs Edgar’s and Mrs Dean’s phonics group have been continuing to develop their understanding of alliteration and they have been listening carefully to initial letter sounds in words.

We received a special letter in Nursery this week from Santa! He asked us if we could write a letter back to him telling him what we would like for Christmas. We thought carefully about initial letter sounds in words and we tried hard to write our own name on our letters.

Next week we look forward to learning about the Nativity story.

Keep checking Nursery’s webpage to find out what we have been getting up to!
