Week 11 in Nursery!

posted 28 Nov 2017, 04:20 by Vicki Bowes

This week in Nursery the children have based their learning around the theme of Cinderella. They enjoyed listening to the story and retelling the story using story puppets.

In order to help the Prince find Cinderella. The children drew posters of her to put up around the academy.

In maths, the children have been investigating shape. On the maths table the children enjoyed creating the Prince’s castle using different shapes. The children have been challenging themselves to talk about the properties of the shapes that they have used.

In the creative area the children enjoyed making Cinderella crowns. They challenged themselves to make their best even better by drawing their crowns.

On Wednesday, Dawn visited the academy for the final time. The children learnt new Christmas songs and signs. We will be performing one of these Christmas songs at the church and Christmas Nativity. The children have really enjoyed Dawn coming into the academy and they have developed their knowledge of simple signs.

On the investigation table the children have been exploring the concept of length by measuring different shoes. The children then challenged themselves to order the shoes from shortest to longest.

On Thursday we had a special treat! The children got to watch the performance of Cinderella.

As you can see, it certainly has been a very busy week in nursery and we have been making our best better to be the best that we can be!

Keep checking nursery’s webpage and the school’s Twitter page to find out what we have been getting up to! Next week we will be focusing on the grapheme k and our number of the week will be 12.
