Week 13 in Nursery!

posted 18 Dec 2017, 02:47 by Vicki Bowes

This week the magic of Christmas arrived in Caldicotes Primary Academy Nursery!!!

At the beginning of the week we received a special delivery from Father Christmas himself. He sent us his special elf Elvis to watch us be 5 star learners!
In his letter he told us that we must keep a close eye on him as sometimes he gets up to mischief. Elvis got up to lots of mischief this week as you can see!

The story that we have been reading in Nursery is ‘The Nativity.’ We talked about the story, drew pictures of key events in the story and we used story puppets to retell the story to develop our understanding of why we celebrate Christmas.

In Maths we have been consolidating our knowledge of shape and developing our counting skills.

We really enjoyed helping Santa match shapes with different shaped presents. We thought about what each present could be and the best bit was when we got to unwrap them to see if we were right!

We also enjoyed identifying numicon plates and matching them with the correct numbered baubles.

On the maths table we enjoyed counting out the correct amount of baubles for each Christmas tree and we challenged ourselves to represent numbers.

In the creative area we have enjoyed making Christmas decorations to hang on our Christmas tree! We challenged ourselves to draw a picture of the decoration that we made.

On the playdough table we made snowmen and we challenged ourselves to draw our creations.

In the investigation area we have been developing our motor skills and working together to help Santa wrap presents.

As you can see, it has been a magical and busy week in nursery and we have been making our best better to be the best that we can be!

Keep checking nursery’s webpage and the school’s Twitter page to find out what we have been getting up to! Next week we will be focusing on the grapheme e and our number of the week will be 14.
