Week 16 in Nursery

posted 26 Jan 2016, 05:23 by Vicki Bowes
Happy learning everybody! This week in Nursery we have been learning to develop our language skills, we have been reading a range of traditional tales and we have been developing our recognition of shapes and our understanding of shape properties.

Our story focus this week has been Hansel and Gretel.

We enjoyed making wanted posters to help find the wicked witch.

To develop our reading skills, we have been reading a range of traditional tales together. We have been trying hard to join in with repeated words and phrases in stories and we have been learning to describe the main story setting, events and principle characters.

We love to read independently in nursery!

In maths we have been learning to play with shapes and make arrangements. We have been trying hard to recognise shapes and describe their properties using mathematical language.

We really enjoyed making gingerbread houses using different shapes.

In the classroom areas and our outdoor environment, we have been trying hard to express our ideas clearly, ensuring that we speak in sentences.

As you can see, it certainly has been a very busy week in nursery and we have been making our best better to be the best that we can be!

Keep checking nursery’s webpage and the school’s Twitter page to find out what we have been getting up to! Next week we will be focusing on the grapheme h and our number of the week will be 17. Can you think of a word that begins with this grapheme? Can you count up to the number 17? What number is one less than 17? What number is one more than 17?
