Week 19 in Nursery

posted 4 Feb 2016, 14:35 by Vicki Bowes

This week Nursery have been focusing on the following aspects of learning; Reading, Making Relationships and Exploring using Media and Materials.

The traditional tale that we have focused on this week has been Beauty and the Beast. Linked to our story, we enjoyed using the musical instruments to identify the characters, thinking carefully about tone and pitch.

As it was National Story Telling week this week, we enjoyed listening to a range of stories read by the older children in the Academy.

We even shared some of our favourite stories with the older children too!

To develop our reading skills, we have been reading lots of traditional tales together and independently. We have been trying hard to join in with repeated words and phrases in stories and we have been learning to recall the main events in a story.

Throughout the week we have been working on our social skills and our ability to play together in a group. We have been trying hard to take turns and show friendly behaviour towards one another.

In PE we have enjoyed using the apparatus to travel in different ways. We have been practising our slithering, balancing, jumping and crawling skills.

In our outdoor environment we have enjoyed getting busy, developing our skills and consolidating our learning.

It has been a busy week in nursery and we have been making our best better to be the best that we can be!

Keep checking nursery’s webpage and the school’s Twitter page to find out what we have been getting up to! Next week we will be focusing on the digraph ff and our number of the week will be 20. Can you think of a word that has this digraph in it? Can you count up to the number 20? What number is one less than 20? What number is one more than 20?
