Week 1 of the Autumn Half-Term 2

Welcome back everybody! As we embark on the final autumn half term, we look forward to making our best even better to be the best that we can be! This week in Nursery we have been learning to develop our speaking and listening skills and we have been trying hard to follow instructions.

In preparation for Bonfire Night on Thursday, we talked about ways in which we could keep ourselves safe and we learnt a new rhyme all about fireworks. It goes like this……….

The rockets in the sky go zoom swish bang
zoom swish bang
zoom swish bang
The rockets in the sky go zoom swish bang
On bonfire night.

The Catherine wheels spin round and round
round and round
round and round
The Catherine wheels spin round and round

On bonfire night.
The bonfire`s flames dance up and down
up and down
up and down
The bonfire`s flames dance up and down

On bonfire night.

(sang to the song: The wheels on the bus)

We really enjoyed making chocolate sparklers and firework biscuits. We had to ensure that we listened carefully to instructions!

In phonics, Mrs Edgar and Mrs Dean’s group have been developing their awareness of sounds in the environment. We really enjoyed going on a sound walk and identify sounds that we could hear. Miss Pounder’s children have been listening carefully to initial letter sounds in words and developing our segmenting and blending skills.

As always we have enjoyed consolidating our learning in our outdoor environment.

It has been a busy week this week and we certainly have been making our best better to be the best that we can be!

Keep checking nursery’s webpage and the schools Twitter page to find out what we have been getting up to! Next week our letter of the week is ‘g’ and our number of the week is 9. Can you think of a word that begins with this phoneme? Can you count up to the number 9? What number comes before number 9? What number comes after number 9?
