Week 20 in Nursery!

posted 11 Feb 2016, 15:36 by Vicki Bowes

This week Nursery have continued to consolidate their learning in the following aspects; Reading, Making Relationships and Exploring using Media and Materials.

At the beginning of the week we enjoyed celebrating Chinese New Year by learning a new Chinese song and tasting Chinese food.

We really enjoyed discovering where China was on a map of the world and talking about different ways people from China celebrate the New Year! This year was the year of the monkey, Miss Pounder said that we have lots of cheeky monkeys in nursery!!!

The traditional tale that we have focused on this week has been Rapunzel. We have enjoyed sharing this story with each other and retelling the story using story puppets.

Linked to our story of the week, we drew pictures of the wicked witch to put up around nursery!

If you see her, please let Miss Pounder, Mrs Edgar or Mrs Dean know!

To develop our reading skills further, we have been reading a range of traditional tales and we have been learning to become independent readers!

Throughout the week we have continued to work on our social skills and our ability to play together in a group, taking turns and sharing resources.

In ICT we enjoyed developing our mouse control skills using the computer program 2simple to draw a picture of a character from the story of Rapunzel.

In our outdoor environment we enjoyed exploring how colours can be changed.

Colour mixing fun!

It has been a busy final week in nursery and we have been making our best better to be the best that we can be!

As we approach the end of the first spring half term, the Nursery team would like to say a huge thank you for your continued effort and support. Next term we look forward to celebrating our learning with you at our open day event and learning about all things space! We hope that you have a fabulous half term break and we will see you next term, ready to make our best even better!

Keep checking nursery’s webpage and the school’s Twitter page to find out what we have been getting up to!
