Week 21 in Nursery!

posted 24 Feb 2016, 15:45 by Vicki Bowes
Welcome back everybody! We hope that you have had a lovely half term break and are ready to embark on another busy term with us. This week in Nursery we have been focusing on the following aspects of learning; Writing, Space Shape and Measure, and Characteristics of Effective Learning.

On Monday we started our new topic all about Space. Linked to this theme, our story focus has been ‘Whatever Next.’ A story book about a little bear who goes on an adventure to the moon in his space rocket. We have enjoyed sharing this story with each other and retelling the story using story puppets.

Linked to this story, we thought about what we would pack in our backpack if we were going on an adventure to the moon.

We also have been busy making rockets for baby bear using 2d shapes. We have been trying hard to talk about their properties using mathematical language.

Throughout the week we have been trying hard to develop our mark making skills. We have been learning to give meaning to the marks that we make when we draw, write and paint and we have been learning to link sounds to letters by labelling our work.

In our play we have been developing our ability to explore and seek challenge by engaging in open ended activities.

In PE we enjoyed our very first dance session with our dance coach Claire. We began to learn a new routine.

Watch this space……….you might see us on Britain’s Got Talent next!

In our outdoor environment we have enjoyed extending and consolidating our learning.

It has been a busy first week back in nursery and we have been making our best better to be the best that we can be!

Keep checking nursery’s webpage and the school’s Twitter page to find out what we have been getting up to!
