Week 26 in Nursery

posted 18 Apr 2016, 07:36 by Vicki Bowes
Welcome back everybody! We hope that you have had a lovely Easter break and are ready to embark on another busy term with us. This week in Nursery we have been focusing on the following aspects of learning; Writing, Number and Characteristics of Effective Learning.

On Monday we started our new topic all about growth and life cycles. Over the coming weeks we will explore the life cycle of a frog and a chicken. Linked to this theme, our story focus has been ‘The Frog Prince’ this week. A story book about a frog who made a princess promise to be his friend. We have enjoyed sharing this story with each other and retelling the story using story puppets.

Throughout the week we have been trying hard to develop our mark making skills. We have been learning to give meaning to the marks that we make when we draw, write and paint and we have been learning to link sounds to letters by labelling our work.

We have also been busy developing our number skills through counting songs and we have been learning to solve simple mathematical problems.

Through our play we have been developing our ability to explore and seek challenge by engaging in open ended activities.

In our outdoor environment we have enjoyed extending and consolidating our learning.

It has been a busy first week back in nursery and we have been making our best better to be the best that we can be!

Keep checking nursery’s webpage and the school’s Twitter page to find out what we have been getting up to!

Just a reminder that Nursery’s class Assembly is on 20th April next week and we look forward to seeing you there!
