Week 34 in Nursery!

posted 22 Jun 2016, 07:31 by Vicki Bowes

This week in Nursery we have been consolidating our learning in the following aspects of development; Maths, Literacy and expressive art and design.

Our story focus this week has been ‘Handa’s Surprise.’ We have enjoyed reading this book and we have talked a lot about different fruits that we can eat and taste.

In our English lessons this week we tried some new fruits, coconut, mango and plum. We were particularly interested in the coconut because it looked very different to other fruits we have tried in the past.

We consolidated our learning in maths by making a graph to discover which of our new fruits was the most popular. The plum was our favourite and the coconut was the least. It was fantastic to see all of the children making an effort to try something new.

We had our sports day this week and it was great fun. Everyone participated in the races and we even got some of the mums and dads to join in too.

On Thursday some of the children watched the England match in school and we won! “Come on England.”

Please remember that next week the children who are going up to reception will be having a dinner in the school hall. The morning children will be in on Tuesday and the afternoon children on Thursday. You are welcome to come in too and if you want to have a dinner you will need to pay £3.10 before the day of your child’s dinner.

The parents meeting for the new reception children is also on Monday at 9 am and 12.30pm. In this meeting you will find out about the expectations of you and your child and what you can expect from school in the coming year.

Keep checking nursery’s webpage and the school’s Twitter page to find out what we have been getting up to!
