We have had another busy week in reception. In our English lessons we have been focusing on ‘The Enormous Turnip.’ The story was about a lady who grew a turnip and she needed help from her friends to pull it up because it was enormous. We had fun acting out the story ‘They pulled and pulled with all their might but they could not pull up the enormous turnip.’

Following our harvest theme we looked at an enormous watermelon. It was very heavy when we passed it around the class. Next we used magnifying glasses to look at them closely and we completed observational drawings. Finally we ate it. It was very juicy and some of us thought that it was delicious.

In our maths lessons this week we have been concentrating on the story of five. We have been exploring and investigating which two numbers added together make five. We have been learning this song to help us. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ivTzTrBC9W0

In PE this week Clare made our balancing tasks even trickier. We all tried very hard to walk along the up turned bench and we had to balance on one leg on top of the high platform.
