Week 1

This week we settled back into Reception fantastically after our summer holidays. We had lots of time in areas working with our friends and learning about the different areas within the classroom. Lots of us enjoyed making houses with the giant Lego and we were even to make a tower that was as tall as ourselves.

We worked with our teachers on number formation and we checked our excellent phonic knowledge too. This was so our teacher would be able to help us make our best even better over the next term.

Week 2

This week we came to school dressed as superheroes on Monday. When we arrived at school we found out we were meeting a real life reading superhero called ‘Resilient Reader’. He came to visit us in our classroom and we asked him some super questions about being a superhero. We also learnt new sounds in phonics and were busy learning in our outdoor area too.

We are trying really hard to improve our physical development through activities such as dough disco and scissor skills. All these activities help our muscles become stronger and make us better at mark making.

Week 3

We read the story Supertato, we used our scanning hand to find out what was happening with the evil peas. We went on a hunt around the academy to find help the different vegetables after they had been captured by the evil peas. After that we wrote about the adventure Supertato had at Caldicotes.

Well last week our attendance was that super we managed to receive the attendance treat from Miss Barry. We had the best attendance in the whole academy. Keep it up Reception and thank you to the parents for your support.

Week 4

We found a magical fairy door in our classroom on Monday and we didn’t know what to do! We asked wandering questions about what was inside. Some of us thought that there was a fairy, a dragon or even a crocodile inside. Then we received a video from a dragon from the story ‘Twinkle tames a dragon’

Twinkle the fairy sent us a message on Thursday telling us it was National Poetry Day. She asked us if we could write a poem. We wrote a class poem and performed them for lots of our teachers in the academy.
