See what we have been doing in Reception class this half-term!

After our work on Roald Dahl stories at the beginning of term we went on to read Bear Stories, ‘Whatever Next’ and ‘Goldilocks and the three bears’. In English we completed some writing about what we thought we would like to take with us if we went to the moon, as Baby Bear did in Whatever Next. We also used our story sack to retell the story.

In maths we have done lots of counting and ordering numbers and putting right any mistakes that Emerald and Sapphire might make.

We also measured a range of people and objects and put them in order of length and height. Children explored 2D and 3D shapes, discussing the properties of them.
Towards the end of the half term we focused our work on Autumn and Harvest. We did some fabulous singing during the Harvest Festival Service in church, the children did us and their families proud. We read ‘The Enormous Turnip’ story and tasted turnip. We tasted it raw and cooked in cubes and mashed, most of the children preferred it cooked and mashed

.
We are delighted that we will be continuing Yoga Bugs after the half term break. We are enjoying developing our movement through the stories we are re-enacting we are making great progress.
