Week 15 in Reception - Happy New Year!

posted 12 Jan 2016, 03:51 by Vicki Bowes
We would like to start by wishing you all a Happy New Year and hope that you all had an exciting and restful time over the Christmas period.

We got straight back into work this week and we have worked hard to make our best even better. This half term is only 6 weeks long so we don’t have time to rest.

In English this week our story focus has been The Three Little Pigs. We have enjoyed listening to different versions of this story and exploring the similarities between the books. We have had a go at labelling pictures of the characters and writing a caption or sentence. We have also had masks in the classroom to act out the story. This helps us with our speaking and listening skills.

In maths this week we have been counting and recognising numbers. It is important for us to be able to put numbers in the correct order and understand which number is more and which number is less. You can help us with our counting at home. Today we had an activity where we counted passengers on and off the bus.

We are very lucky in PE this half term. We have two special PE teachers, Clare is teaching us dance on a Tuesday and James is teaching us ball skills on a Wednesday. We are looking forward to developing our skills.

The weather this week has been rather wet but we still do like to go outside to play and learn. Can you make sure we bring a suitable coat for playing out and if possible it is helpful if we have a pair of wellies in school so that we are able to have more fun outside.
