Week 20 in Reception

posted 23 Feb 2016, 02:19 by Vicki Bowes

In English this week our story focus has been an alternative story of Snow White. This time she had seven dart frogs as pets! The dart frogs helped her to get away from her evil stepmother and then they turned into seven handsome princes. We have all been considering the pets that we have at home or the pets that we would like to have.

In maths this week we have been working on number bonds of 5 and 10. This has been rather tricky for us to do but we did enjoy using custard creams to show our learning especially when we got to eat one!

This week was our last opportunity to work with the sports coaches. We have enjoyed creating dances and movement with Clare and we particularly enjoyed showing off our football skills with James.

We have had a dinosaur washing station on both reception classrooms this week. This activity helps us to develop our dexterity to support our writing and we also had lots of discussion that supports our personal, social and emotional development as well as speech and language.

We have all worked hard over this half term and we are ready for a rest. The early years’ staff would like to wish you an enjoyable half term and we look forward to seeing you ready to learn on 22nd February.
