In Reception this half term we will be doing a topic on ‘Our Environment’ and the focus for this week has been the shops. Sadly our planned visit to the shops had to be cancelled as the weather was too wet, but we have had fun in school watching video clips and reading stories.

In English we have looked at information books and watched clips on the computer. We have also listened to stories. We wrote about times we had been to the shops and thought about who we went with and what we bought while we were there. As well as writing linked to our topic we wrote our half term news, as lots of us had visited different places and done all sorts of exciting things during the half term holiday.

As part of our shops topic we had a role play area set up within our writing area, with a till, money and differently priced items to sell. In the tuff tray there was small Lego, which the children used to build different types of shops.

In Maths this week, we have been completing work on money. The children have done a great job of finding out how much something costs and the finding which coins they would use to pay that amount.

This week has been Sports Week in the academy, we have had great fun learning some new sports. On Wednesday we had a session on skate boarding, we found it quite difficult to balance, but by working together we managed it.

Then on Thursday we tried our hand at scooters. We were really good at this!

On Friday we were very lucky, the rain stopped and we were able to hold our Sports Day. The children all joined in and were amazing!
