Week ending 09.12.16 in Reception!

posted 11 Dec 2016, 09:28 by Vicki Bowes

This week in Reception class we have begun to talk about Christmas, about how Advent is a time to prepare for Christmas and we have had fun opening our Advent calendars.

In English we read the story ‘A Letter to Santa’ and then we wrote letters to Santa, telling him what we would like for Christmas and assuring him that we have been good. We were really excited when we got a letter back from Santa, thanking us for our letters and telling us he will visit us all on Christmas Eve. We also read the story ‘The Jolly Christmas Postman’ by Allan Ahlberg.

We have completed lots of independent writing in our writing area.

In Maths we have been making repeating patterns. We made patterns using coloured bobbins, cubes, pegs and boards, baubles, everything in and around our classroom. We even made patterns with children. We also made repeating patterns of 2D shape.

We have been doing our Christmas finger gym to improve our physical development.

We have had great fun practising our aim, throwing snowballs into the snowman’s mouth and tummy.
