Week ending 10.03.17 in Reception!

posted 17 Mar 2017, 04:50 by Vicki Bowes

This week in Reception class,we have been continuing the theme of pirates. In English we have listened to pirate stories and watched episodes of ‘Jake and the Neverland Pirates’ and in maths we have continued work on money.

In English we watched ‘Jake and the Neverland Pirates’ on you tube. We then went into the Academy grounds and hid treasure.

After hiding the treasure we wrote directions leading to where the treasure could be found and we drew treasure maps to help us and our friends locate the hidden treasure. After a couple of days when we went back to find it, lots of us could find our treasure as we had hidden it well.

In Maths we have been solving problems involving money. We had a class shop and the children brought different items and worked out which coins they would need to buy them.

In the construction area the children built pirate ships using ‘Lego’, they recorded their work and used their phonic knowledge to write labels and captions. In the creative area they made pirate ships using dough and gluing materials as well as treasure.

The previous week, Class 1 had the best attendance in the whole academy and we were given our treat of hot chocolate and biscuits this week. We were very proud and thoroughly enjoyed our treat. We are going to try to be in school every day next week too!
