Week Ending 19.05.17 in Reception!

In Reception we are carrying on our topic on ‘People who help us’ and this week we have been learning about the work of doctors and nurses. All of us at some time have visited the doctor, or hospital or nurse. So we were all able to talk and write about our own experiences.

In English we have looked at information books and watched clips on the computer. We have also listened to stories. We even had a visit from Riley who had been to the hospital recently because of his broken arm.

We wrote about times when we or our families have been to the doctors or the hospital.

As part of our doctors and nurses topic we had a role play area set up within our writing area. There was a doctors chair, outfits, bandages and lots of opportunities for writing. We also had a medical kit in our home corner where the children were looking after the dolls. Some of us did some great recording of how we had looked after our patients in both areas. Some of our work is going to be part of our people who help us display.

In Maths this week, we have been learning all about halving. We know how to use our fingers to show half of 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10. We shared sweets between Emerald and Sapphire, making sure they got halv each, so it was fair. We completed a maths task in our books, sharing the food in our lunch box with Mrs Crabbe, we had half each.

Our PE session this week was outside. The children used great climbing skills using Key Stage 2’s tyres and the trim trail.
