Week ending 23.06.17 in Reception!

posted 2 Jul 2017, 12:48 by Vicki Bowes

In Reception this half term we are doing a topic on ‘Our Environment’ and the focus for this week has been the park. Sadly, the previous hot weather turned very wet and we were not able to visit the park.

In English we have read the story ‘Fergus in the park’ by Tony Maddox. It is a funny story of a naughty dog, who is amazing at skateboarding.

We have written about our weekend news as well as writing about the park story.

The children even built their own park in the construction area.

In Maths this week, we have been completing work on 2D and 3D shapes. We have described the properties of shapes, sorted shapes and drawn pictures of shapes.

We went outside when the rain stopped and did a shape hunt. The children found 2D shapes in the environment and recorded where they could be found.

For our homework this week, we have made 3D models of the park. Here are some examples.
