Week 15 in Year 6 - Happy New Year

We have been very busy in year 6 during the first week back. In maths we have been looking at area, perimeter and volume of shapes.

Here is our new working wall which we follow during maths lessons:

In English we have been practising key skills from our writing check list. These have included: fronted adverbials, relative clauses and determiners. Challenge your child to explain their meaning!

In Science we have begun to look at electricity. We all created a complete circuit, named the components and looked at what would happen when we added extra bulbs or batteries and changed the wires.

During our project sessions we have been focusing on the Ancient Greeks. We made a layer cake to look at the different styles of pottery throughout Ancient Greek times. We also loved sampling the layer cake after the lesson too!

We have also created our very own Greek pots using clay. We are looking forward to decorating these! Keep a look out for the finished products!
