Parent Support - PPPL

We are very lucky to be supported in the academy by our own, Parent, Pupil and Pastoral Leader, Miss Angela Barry. Miss Barry is here to help both children and families overcome the barriers to learning and to engage fully in the learning community of our school. She arranges family learning courses, provides support for children and parents and can signpost families to agencies and extended services for additional help. She is a member of the Child Protection team and a member of the Senior Leadership Team. She can be found in school between 8am and 4.30pm and can be contacted via the school reception or using the school mobile phone on: 07532 286 472. Miss Barry also supports pupils in school through her ‘chill and chat’ sessions, ‘talking and drawing’ therapy and oversees ‘Meet and Greet’ interventions for pupils across the academy.

We believe working together, in partnership with our community, can only make the lives of our children and the wider community stronger. Parents are encouraged to discuss problems with the class teacher, Parent Pupil and Pastoral Leader or Principal as soon as they occur and not let a small problem develop into something much larger.

We want to ensure we are supporting and caring for the children in difficult times appropriately, so please keep school informed of any home situation that may cause your child distress – a family bereavement, illness etc. If your child is to be awarded a Principal’s award, parents are expected to attend the Monday assembly when they will be issued. In addition we will notify you in advance of the date of your child’s class assembly and would hope that you are able to share in your child’s achievements, as outlined in the Home / Academy / Pupil Agreement.

Throughout the year, parents may be invited into the classroom to observe lessons for themselves, to see at first hand how your child is challenged to achieve their potential.

There are various ways in which parents can get involved in school life – assisting in the classroom with art, craft, baking, general preparation, reading stories, playing games, supporting visits. If you are interested, please contact Main Reception and our Admin team so that you can complete a DBS assessment form, in line with our Safeguarding policy.
