Our Academy Forum 2015-2016

We have an Academy forum made up of elected representatives from KS1 & KS2. The children meet regularly with the Forum liaison staff and are actively involved in supporting the decision making in the academy. We value their voice and respect their input into developing and improving our academy.

At the start of each new school year within our Academy, new class academy forum representatives from each class are chosen. All children had the opportunity to nominate themselves for the job and then each child was given a brief interview. Class representatives are now in post and regular meetings taking place. The Academy Forum is the pupils' voice in school to discuss their issues, ideas and concerns.

Academy Forum visit to Cleveland View

posted 5 Jul 2016, 06:32 by Vicki Bowes   [ updated 5 Jul 2016, 06:56 ]

Today some of our academy forum representatives went to visit the residents at Cleveland View care home. It was a most enjoyable afternoon and the children had an interesting time reading and talking to the ladies. It was fantastic to see them representing our school in such a positive way and we are now busy thinking of ideas to visit again.

Below is a letter the Academy Forum received from Cleveland View thanking us for the visit.

Hi there

Just a quick note to say a really big thank you to you, your colleague and all of the students for joining us yesterday, we all thoroughly enjoyed it as I'm sure that the attached pics show!

The children were an absolute dream, well mannered, very well behaved and a real credit to you and the school.  Their reading skills were wonderful and they interacted so well with the residents and staff and it was lovely to see how confident and happy that they are.

It would be fab if we could organise something in the future - perhaps a full calendar of events that we could tie in??

Anyway, I'll leave that in your very capable hands and wait to hear from you.

Once again, a heartfelt thank you from myself and all of our residents - they're still talking about it this morning!

The Academy Forum Meet MP Andy McDonald and Mayor Ray Mallon

posted 24 Apr 2015, 07:24 by Tom Kentfield-Wells   [ updated 24 Apr 2015, 07:26 ]

On Friday 20th March, the Academy Forum met with Mr Andy McDonald. The children asked him questions about his job and they gave him a tour around the school to show him how we have ‘made our best better’ since his last visit to the Academy.

On Tuesday 24th March, both Jordan and Cora, the school captains and Academy Forum representatives went to the Town Hall to meet with Middlesbrough’s elected Mayor Mr Ray Mallon. The children took part in activities aimed at promoting them to think about Middlesbrough’s qualities and ways in which it could be improved. The children were given a tour of the Town Hall and they were given the opportunity to ask the Mayor questions.

Here are some of the photos that the girls took on their tour around Middlesbrough’s Town Hall.
